Okay now, here’s a question that I almost hate answering because I know what it automatically implies.
A lot of people think that pawn shops deal in fake jewelry and fake watches.
That however, is just not really the case at all.
While some pawn shops may deal with items that are goldplated, they will almost always disclose that before they sell them.
However, when it comes to things like watches, pawn shops really have no interest in taking in fake watches.
Fake watches typically don’t have any kind of resale value, and therefore they aren’t truly something that a pawn shop will be interested in to begin with.
On top of it, if someone spots a fake watch in the pawn shop that supports the assumption that pawn shops deal with fake merchandise, which not only is not true but is also something that most pawn shops actually want to dissuade as far as a way of thinking.
So keeping that in mind, when it comes to fake watches, pawn shops are absolutely on the lookout for them and will avoid taking them in at almost any cost.
Do pawn shops take fake watches? Is that a Rolex… or just a very good imitation? Odds are, only the real thing would be on display at a pawn shop.
Are There Any Exceptions Under Which A Pawn Shop Would Take A Fake Watch
With all this having been said, there may be some exceptions under which a pawn shop would consider taking in a fake watch.
First of all, let’s deal with the situation that the pawn shop may unknowingly have taken in a fake watch.
There are some outstanding replicas and duplicates out there of popular watches such as Movados or Rolexes for instance. These copies are so good in fact that often times even experts can’t determine if they are fake or real.
Other than that, a pawn shop may decide to take in something like a fake Rolex just to get it off the street.
Additionally, when it comes to things like replica watches there are laws that govern the sale of those.
These laws are extremely straightforward on how retailers are to deal fake merchandise, and because of those laws, pawn shops will basically never sell a fake Rolex or other fake watch knowingly.

No. Pawn shops do not sell fake watches.
Selling a fake or replica watch is actually against the law. Popular manufacturers such as Rolex will often shop in stores and malls looking for counterfeit items that bear their trademarks, logos, and names.
It’s illegal to sell a fake or counterfeit item such as a watch.
Keeping that in mind, pawnbrokers are extremely proud of their businesses. They don’t want to be seen as doing something illegal, or underhanded in any way.
They are aware that there is a certain percentage of the population that thinks pawn shops are simply in business to do things that are on the border of legality. However that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Pawnbrokers aren’t going to risk their business just to sell a fake watch. That’s not to say that it hasn’t occasionally happened, but it’s going to be extremely rare and not a very common occurrence at all.
