Pawn

A lot of people have asked if pawn shop buy or take Fitbits and the answer is that yes, more often than not a pawn shop will buy your Fitbit. That having been said, there are some things that you need to do to make sure that you get the most money possible out of it.
Technology is always changing. Where Betamax tapes were once the pinnacle of home entertainment, even Blurays are looking old these days.
As technology evolves, so has what pawn shops are willing to take in on loan or offer to buy from people when it comes into their stores.
One area where technology has really made advancements and created a new market is in personal health tracking.
One of the most popular health trackers on the market today is the Fitbit line of products.
So, with that in mind, there’s really no surprise to me when people ask “Do pawn shops buy Fitbits?”
Unfortunately because of the variety in how pawn shop across the country operate, it’s hard to give one answer that fits all scenarios.
That having been said, most pawn shops will buy Fitbits. Remember that I said “Most.”
You see, pawn shops aren’t like The Home Depot, or Target. There’s not one set of rules that all of them follow.
Pawn shops are typically owned by thousands of independent small business owners know as “Pawnbrokers.”
Each pawnbroker has their own ideas about what types of items make for good collateral on which they can make loans or offer to buy from you.
In some (rare) cases, pawn shops only want to deal with things that they are really familiar with, like tools and jewelry.
However, most pawn shops these days absolutely embrace new forms of technology and will at least make you an offer on your Fitbit should you take it into them.
There are some things you can do to make sure that you get offered the most money possible when you take your Fitbit into a pawn shop.
A lot of people have asked me if pawn shops buy Fitbits. The answer is that yes, most pawn shops will take Fitbits, but there are some things that you should do to make sure that you get the most money possible out of it – and it all begins by cleaning your Fitbit throughly before you get to the pawn shop with it.
How To Get The Most Money For A Fitbit From A Pawn Shop
Fitbits aren’t particularly cheap in most cases, but they aren’t incredibly expensive either.
Most Fitbits cost between $69-$179 when brand new, with a factory warranty, and that all too familiar “Just out of the box” new smell.
As you wear your Fitbit, it’s going to smell a lot less like it’s new and a lot more like your sweat. Nobody likes that, trust me.
So, with that in mind, lets be realistic about what it is that we are talking about here. A Fitbit is a piece of personal fitness equipment when you really get right down to it.
They can get pretty dirty, and a little smelly, without much effort – or if you are doing it right – as the result of a lot of effort while working out.
So there are some things that you should do before you take your Fitbit into the pawn shop to make sure that you get the most money possible out of it.
Cleaning Your Fitbit
The first thing that you really need to think about doing is cleaning your Fitbit as well as possible.
You will want to pay a lot of attention to the band a clasp. Sometimes little flakes of dead skin can end up in these areas that you will want to clean off. Typically speaking, just a little rubbing alcohol and a que-tip will do the trick.
Next is the back of the Fitbit itself. Rubbing alcohol also works here, and really rub it pretty aggressively to make sure that you get any debris or marks off of it.
Moving to the top of the Fitbit, you’ll want to continue to rubbing alcohol treatment, but be careful with how aggressive you are while rubbing on it as you don’t want to abraid the face of the Fitbit.
By the time your done, your Fitbit should look close to new as it is really pretty easy to clean these little guys.
Know Exactly What Fitbit You Have
Fitbits come in a variety of sizes and models.
Because so many of the Fitbits look so similar, and pawn shops may not deal with them all that often, it’s important to know exactly what model and size Fitbit you have.
If you have the receipt for when you originally purchased it, it will probably give you a good idea of what it is. Failing that, the original packaging should tell you what model and size it is which brings us to…
Have The Original Parts & Packaging If Possible
The last thing that you can do to really put the odds in your favor of getting the most money possible for your Fitbit is to have all of the original parts and packaging with you when you take it into a pawn shop.
First and foremost, the USB cord by far the most important thing as these can be a pain to replace should a pawn shop have to do that.
Not having the USB cord will definitely have a negative impact on the amount that the pawn shop offers your for your Fitbit.
Furthermore, pawn shops have an easier time selling things when they have all of the original packaging. Having that with you will almost always increase the amount that you are offered.
Perhaps most importantly however is that the packaging will tell the pawn shop exactly what size and model Fitbit you have so that they can give you the best offer possible for it.
